Isn't that PATHETIC? Shouldn't worship be ENJOYABLE?
The old fuddy duddies on the GB in Brooklyn have no concept of what Enjoyable should be. Studies have shown that a persons attention span is only about 15 to 20 minutes. A person can mentally only absorve that much information and then their brains shut off. I would feel guilty at the WT study when my mind would start drifting after about 15 minutes. I know now this was only normal but the society would always make you feel so guilty. I have read this is a classic mind control technique, where one is being almost in a hypnotic trance and their mind is then open to suggestions. Makes one wonder if this is deliberate.

The closest I have come to a GB was when Grant Suiter came to dedicate our Assembly Hall. I remember him giving the dedication of the Assembly Hall talk but I don't recall him saying anything special.

Has anyone here remembered the lessons learned in Vietnam? The US was forced to play the game of the enemy. Sure you can bomb the crap out of them and win, there is no doubt the Americans can do that but have you won the "hearts and minds" of a people that already mistrust the US intentions? The problem with what Bush did was he did not build alleys that were willing to back him. He went in like a "bull in a china shop" without support and now that its blowing up in his face he wants that support. It is kind of late for diplomacy. The US already has their forces stretched to the maximum and unless they get other countries involvement in Iraq, there is no sane way that he is able to start any new wars but the key word here is "sane". With Bush and company anything is possible.

This was discussed in an earlier post about a month ago. According to the International Bible Students, Russell sent Rutherford to California (1915?) to get him out of the way. Russell had appointed a board of 5 people to take over after his death and Rutherford's name was not one of names. Russell also had a list of 5 alternate names in case of death etc. Rutherford's name was not on the original alternate list either but only added after because of the death of one of the named brothers. There is some discrepancy that it was Russell that actually added Rutherford to the list. On the death of Russell, Rutherford was notified and rushed back to the WT headquarters. According to the IBS, Rutherford being a layer and using legal maneuvers, did a hostile take over, firing anyone that apposed him. That in a nut shell is what I got out of what I read, although this is the IBS version of what took place.

When Simon is referring to where America is bombing I don't think he is refering to all the American people but your present administration. As that is not what I got out of his comment. You are correct maybe he should have stated it another way i.e. "where is Bush going to bomb next".
I have to agree with another poster on here when he said that Bush and company would like to start more wars but are only waiting till after the election to do it. I am not a big fan of Kerry's either as he has not come right out and condemed the war but hopefully he will clean house and get rid of Rumsfeld, PearI, Wolfiwitch and company and don't start any new wars.

Terry,
That sounds like something my ex would do, the FB. Although she would do one better and tell everyone in the congregation she wrote it.

And most of the articles in the Awake are taken from the Readers Digest.

The article is a bunch of lies. First thing I understand "Judge Ruderass" with the supposed judicial record, only presided over a one minor court case. Then the point about all the books he had written. I also read somewhere that Freddie Franz penned most of Rutherford's books.

Yeah it was great when the speaker wouldn't show up and all you had to do was suffer through an hour of the crap tower. I know now that they will substitute the talk with one from a local elder. No difference, same s***, different pile.
Speaking of brainy ideas, I recall once when I was a teen and the speaker didn't show, how the PO got the bright idea to do a 2 hour WT study. Talk about boring and I thought the they couldn't make the tower any more boring then it already is but I was wrong.
